About James Larsson

I work at the intersection of systems research and operational leadership, not as a compromise between the two, but because the problems I find most interesting require both.

The research side. My primary research focus is the Operational Continuity Framework (OCF): a domain-free analytical method for understanding how dependency structures cause systems to collapse, how cascade effects propagate across coupled layers, and how the intervention window (the period during which failure is still recoverable) can be predicted and extended. OCF was developed initially through analysis of high-stakes operational failures but applies equally to aviation, critical infrastructure, financial systems, and enterprise organisations. The structural failure pattern is the same. The dependency map differs.

OCF is being stress-tested through TYRAXE, a navigation and communications resilience platform I founded under Conqorde, addressing three coupled dependency layers: positioning continuity, resilient mesh communications, and distributed decision support under connectivity loss. Patent pending. PhD candidate, Cranfield University.

The executive side. Thirty years across Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba, Motorola, Nissan, Nestlé and a succession of financial services and fintech engagements have given me a specific capability: I can read the operational architecture of an organisation, where the dependencies are, where the fragility sits, what will cascade if a critical assumption fails, and I know how to change it.

Selected engagements include reversing Nykredit Bank’s customer trajectory, leading Nissan Europe’s connected services mobile platform, and delivering the AI platform that earned the European Commission Seal of Excellence.

Credentials. MSc Engineering, Lund University (LTH). MSc Leadership and Strategy, London Business School (Sloan Fellow). European Commission Seal of Excellence in AI, awarded to the top 2 to 5% of innovators across Europe. I have worked with Swedbank, Nykredit Bank, Sparbank Nord, Tryg, Nestlé, Nissan, Sony, Accenture , Cap Gemini across financial services, manufacturing, automotive and technology transformation programmes.

I hold an MSc in Engineering from Lund University (LTH) and one in Leadership and Strategy from London Business School’s Sloan program. I am a SLOAN Fellow.

I was awarded the European Commission Seal of Excellence, recognition given to the top 2 to 5% of innovators across Europe for projects demonstrating technological advancement, commercial viability and measurable impact.
